Connect DataCore to ChatGPT
ChatGPT supports custom MCP apps through Developer Mode. Availability and permissions depend on the ChatGPT plan and workspace configuration. OpenAI currently documents full MCP support for Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces, while Pro users can connect MCPs with read/fetch permissions in Developer Mode.
Prerequisites
- An active DataCore account
- A ChatGPT account with access to the required MCP functionality
- Developer Mode enabled, if required by your account or workspace
- The DataCore MCP Server URL:
https://backend.ecoreservice.com/api/v1/mcp
1. Create a custom MCP app
Open ChatGPT and access the settings for creating custom apps / MCP connectors. Depending on your workspace, this may require Developer Mode to be enabled by a workspace administrator.
Select Create, provide the required information, and enter:
https://backend.ecoreservice.com/api/v1/mcp
Select the appropriate authentication mechanism for the server.
2. Authenticate with DataCore
If prompted to authenticate through OAuth, complete the DataCore authorization flow — sign in with your existing DataCore account and authorize the connection. After authorization, return to ChatGPT and allow the MCP tool scan (Scan Tools) to complete.
3. Create and enable the app
Complete the app configuration. Depending on your workspace permissions, the app may initially appear as a draft and require an administrator or owner to publish it before other workspace users can access it. Once available, select the DataCore MCP app from the ChatGPT tools menu when you want to use DataCore.
ChatGPT's MCP functionality, interface, and workspace permissions are still evolving. If you don't see the options described above, check your workspace's Developer Mode and app permissions.
